I get an error that says my laptop is a duplicate device. Why?

There are a 3 reasons this could happen:

  1. Your device was previously registered or the License Key is applied to a different device. In either case you must first remove the laptop / device from your Gadgettrak account before you can re-register the second laptop.

  2. If you are connected to the internet via a 3G/4G cell card. Often times registering a device with a 3G/4G connection can cause the duplication error. You'll just need to connect to a wifi or ethernet network to register your device. Once registered, the GadgetTrak app works correctly with 3G/4G cell cards.

  3. Similar to #2, use of a VPN can cause the duplication error. Connect to the internet outside of the VPN to register the device. Once registered, the GadgetTrak app works correctly with VPNs.
